Facebook Announces Timeline Movie Maker

Published by on Jan 31st, 2012, 18 Comments

Facebook has slowly started rolling out the new Timeline profile view for all users, in fact I reckon most readers of this site have probably switched to the new view  already (if not, you will be forced to use it pretty soon). Today Facebook launched a pretty great new tool to hype up the new Timeline view, simply called Timeline Movie Maker. They built the app with Definition6, and it could not be easier to use:

Simply head over to http://www.timelinemoviemaker.com/, and if you are logged into Facebook, a simple green button is displayed to generate your own movie based on your Timeline. The App will request your permission to get some of your details and naturally the photos from your timeline. Using the events and locations in your life, a one minute movie is built that is actually pretty exciting to watch.

Right now it is not yet possible to export this video or share it to sites other than Facebook. This is a pretty great way for Facebook to force users to expand their Timeline events and photos. In fact, if you do not have enough details in your timeline, the Movie Maker will not work.

“We think there will be lots of companies that come up with fun, innovative ways for people to extend the Timeline experience,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.

So have you tried out Timeline Movie Maker? Let us know in the comments.

I have a few of my friends on Timeline and it sux!! Every time I try and scroll down, moving the wheel on the mouse about three times, to view previous posts on the wall, the page resets itself back to the top.  It is really frustrating!!!

I agree with Jmc – very frustrating, and it’s slow when browsing or navigating from your personal page to either facebook home or another person’s page. Please make some improvement, otherwise facebook will lose some of us since you are not giving us an option to revert to the old ‘look’ (for lack of a better word).

I have two FaceBook profiles and I still don’t know much about this TImeline. If we are forced to use it I guess I will go for it, but I really have no need for a 1 minute video about myself. The people on my FB already know a lot about me, so what’s the point? Anyway, at the moment, I’m just in “wait and see” mode.

well it looks great! but i got a problem on that, i use all my desktop browser like opera,safari,ie9,firefox,chrome(all are the least version)but it says i`m not on a supported browser and try another one or upgrade to make sure my browser is the least version. by the way i`ve even tried on my android phone but the same problem
