The Plascon InspireMe app, developed by 4i Mobile Applications, has taken first place in the category of Most Innovative App after being shortlisted by judges and voted on by the audience at the inaugural MTN Business App of the Year Awards 2012.
The Plascon Inspire Me App won in its category by a 67% majority vote, and then was further nominated by the judges as a finalist in the Overall App of the Year category, in which it came third in South Africa.
The App awards, held in Johannesburg, showcased mobile applications that have made an impact over the last 12 months and the people behind them. The event recognised and celebrate South Africa’s local talent and promoted the country as an innovation hub in the mobile space.
“Making a difference through technological innovation is something that can be achieved when there’s collaboration,” says Nomalanga Nkosi, GM for Business Marketing at MTN Business. “The MTN Business App of the Year is a real reflection of finding talented South Africans that are driving such mobility and exploring the potential that apps have for social and economic upliftment.”
Having launched officially in May with over 10 000 download since its inception, the Plascon InspireMe app allows users to identify and browse through colours in the Plascon range and receive advice on products, surfaces and common paint problems.
“With a history of over 120 years, it’s great for Plascon to be recognized in the mobile and technological landscape,” says Lauren Shantall, Plascon’s PR and Social Media Manager. “The app is not only a way for us to interact more closely with our consumers, but to also to make painting easier and more accessible to everybody, putting the user back in control.”
Users of the Plascon InspireMe App are invited to enter a competition, where two lucky entrants will each win a home makeover to the value of R10 000. Entry details can be found on plasconinspireme.mobi or plasconinspireme.co.za.
