The Verge has published an image of the next Amazon Kindle, expected to be officially announced next week.
The report suggests that two Kindle Fires are on their way, a 7-inch and 10-inch, the first of which seems to be the subject of the picture above. A new streamlined interface is also speculated to be in the pipeline.
With the release of the new device, founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has stated that company will “offer our customers the best hardware, the best prices, the best customer service, the best cross-platform interoperability, and the best content ecosystem.”
The report states that, “While the original Fire was widely known to be based on the same OMAP4 reference design as RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook, the new model appears to be a custom design.”
Later, a source familiar with the new Kindle claimed that the image in the picture, while an authentic Amazon image, is not the next Kindle fire as the actual device features a “wider bezel to fit nicely in the hand”.
