That seems completely overpriced, seeing Google sells them in the States for $149? Wow, nice markup.

were can i buy the nexus7 in Cpt…Bellville area (walk in shop)…Asus/Computer Mania have no idea….OR then the best deal On-Line??
    Thank You

$149? What are you smoking? It costs $199 for the 8gb version, and $249 for the 16gb version. Add 14% VAT (there’s no customs duty on this) and you’re looking at at least R2369 excluding delivery costs. As a comparison it costs USD 324 for the same version in Singapore. I bought it through kalahari.com so that I could use my ebucks to subsidise it all the way down to R2300.

Yes, sorry that’s correct. I read a rumour today that the newest Nexus tablet coming next year will be $99, which is really exciting. The larger storage version will be $149. Freudian slip. :-)

I still think its too expensive, though. It’s meant to be a budget tablet, and at R2999 it isn’t really.

If you search it on gumtree you’ll see there’s some d00s trying to sell one for R8500

It is only a rumour about the USD 99 tablet. You can trace it back to the very unreliable blog digitimes.com.

  • Theunis Jansen van Rensburg

Yes, it is a rumour (as I said), but just imagine the impact on the market of a high quality $99 tablet! That would be amazing!

There hasn’t been any word on retail outlets as of yet, but as soon as we have news we will let you know. Online is your best bet for now.
