Samsung to unveil 4-inch Galaxy S3 today

Samsung will be unveiling a new device today, 11th October, in Germany and it’s going to be a 4-inch version of the Galaxy S3. The announcement came yesterday from Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications, JK Shin, during a meeting with Korean press.

“We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S3 on the 11th in Germany,” Shin confirmed. “There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini.’”

Samsung’s announcement also comes a week ahead of the expected unveiling of Apple’s iPad Mini, the rumoured small screen tablet of which Apple is expecting high demand. The tablet would compete with models from Google, Amazon and also Samsung.

More details of the device have yet to be revealed.

    If they can pack the same performance into the smaller casing, I think it will be a big success. A lot of people prefer the iPhone to the S3 just because they think the S3 is too big.

    Dunno where you get your information, s3 is the number 1 phone internationally, and has out performed all i phone models, people prefer the s3, I was trying to pick between the 4s and S3, once the S3 was in my hand the rest was history

    I’m not saying the iPhone sells better. I’m saying that there are people who don’t want the S3 because it is too large, and therefore take the iPhone. I’m saying that it would make the potential market larger for their device if the screen was smaller with the same specs and performance.

    I am one of those people @facebook-757488135:disqus – while I like the incredible specs of the S3, I really dislike the size. It is just not comfortable to use with one hand.

    The original S3 is for a man’s hand. This one was designed for a woman’s hand. My S3 fits fine in my hand, my gf thinks it’s too big.
