Google Now is one of the most innovative software features in recent history, there’s no denying that. The potential it has to alter your everyday life is mind-boggling. It is still very much in its infant years, but Google obviously have huge plans for it.

In recognition of this new feature on Android devices, Popular Science has given Google Now its “Innovation of the Year” award. That’s no small feat, putting it alongside previous winners like the Large Hadron Collider, the Mars Curiosity Rover and the Toyota Prius. According to Popular Science, the reason they chose Google Now is because it’s “the first virtual assistant that truly anticipates your needs.” You can read the interview between Google and Popular Science here.

Google Now will never stop growing, of course. Subsequent to the launch, they have added personal recommendations, a pedometer and public safety alerts. Now that Jelly Bean is rolling out to more devices, more people are getting the opportunity to use Google Now.
