Google Chrome is fast becoming a formidable rival against the world’s most popular browser, Internet Explorer and in December 2011, it overtook Firefox, making it the N0. 2 browser in the world.
While Internet Explorer remains the most dominant browser globally, in Africa where Firefox reigned supreme, Chrome overtook Internet Explorer in March 2012, making it the second most popular browser.

According to StatCounter, While Chrome’s growth has been somewhat slow since January 2012, with a 10.09% increase between January 2012 and January 2013, it has now, successfully overtaken Firefox in Africa for the first time.
According to the stats, as at January 2013, Chrome took 37.59% of the African browser market compared to Firefox’s 37.01%, making it the leading web browser on the African continent.
In South Africa Chrome beat out Firefox in June 2012.
