Between Ashton Kutcher taking up the leading role in one project that was screened at the Sundance Film Festival and the talent of Oscar winning screenwriter of The Social Network Aaron Sorkin taking part in another, the making of a Steve Jobs biopic is all the rage at the moment and big Hollywood business.
Needless to say, while the above productions intend to take a very serious look at the life of one of the most iconic men in history, another is choosing to take a more humourous approach. The New York Times has reported that comedy website Funny or Die, has revealed that it has made its very own Steve Jobs biopic titled iSteve that will be unveiled on 15th April 2013.
If you’re curious to know who will be playing Jobs, according to Funny or Die comedic actor Justin Long (Going the Distance, New Girl, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) seems the obvious choice. If you look hard enough at the poster above left you’ll recognise him in there somewhere.
Ryan Perez, who wrote and directed iSteve says that “In true Internet fashion, it’s not based on very thorough research — essentially a cursory look at the Steve Jobs Wikipedia page. It’s very silly. But it looks at his whole life.”
Taking into account the respect and admiration that many people, especially Apple fans have for the former CEO, producer Allison Hord assures that “even the harshest fanboy critics will be able to laugh with us.” Well, we’ll see about that.
