Distimo has once again released its monthly report of the Top Global Apps for 2013. In its latest publication Distimo highlights both the top apps and their publishers for July 2013 from the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
The report began by comparing the total revenue growth of Google Play and the Apple App Store. Over the last six months, while Google Play showed a much more significant growth of 67% to Apple’s 15%, in total revenue, the App Store remains the larger market.
As usual, apps have been divided into three categories: free, paid and top grossing apps, the data of which has been collected over the whole month of July.
Top Free Downloaded Apps:
The top free downloaded apps from the App Store are Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Candy Crush Saga and Google Maps. While the top two apps remain the same as the previous month, Google Maps has moved up from 5th place in March 2013.
The top free downloaded apps for Google Play sees Facebook, WhatsApp and Despicable Me: Minion Rush taking the top three places. Despicable Me, the newcomer to the top five, pushed Candy Crush Saga and Facebook Messenger down to 4th and 5th place respectively.
In contrast to Google Play, the top 5 most downloaded free apps in the Amazon Appstore completely changed. Take a look at the chart below, noticing that Despicable Me: Minion Rush takes the top spot.
Top Paid Downloaded Apps:
The top paid downloaded apps for the App Store, follow the same trend as those that were downloaded for free with the top two remaining the same followed by a few new entries.
In the Google Play store, there were no newcomers for July, with SwiftKey Keyboard maintaining the lead.
In the Amazon Appstore, Minecraft: Pocket Edition is the most downloaded paid app, with the app appearing in each store for the month of July. New entires in the list include Where’s my Mickey? and Survivalcraft.
