Founder of World of Avatar and CEO of MXit, Alan Knott Craig will be guest speaker at the next Media Lab Monday.
Some background information about Alan: Between 2003 and 2006 he co-founded five companies in the mobile telecoms sector and in 2006 he was appointed managing director of iBurst, the third largest wireless broadband network in South Africa. In April 2008 he published Don’t Panic, persuading South Africans to come home and in June 2008 founded The Trust, an NGO focused on assisting charities access skills and capital. In 2009 he was named as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
The event will be informal followed by a Q&A session.

Last night, the winners of the 2011 Bookmarks Awards, run by the Digital Media and Marketing Association, were announced in Cape Town where the campaigns and players in the digital and online marketing industry were honoured for their respective products and achievements.
“The success of this evening’s event and the calibre of the 2011 entries and winners is a clear indication that the digital industry is growing from strength to strength,” said Nikki Cockcroft, Chairperson of the DMMA and Bookmarks Chair, last night.

After a week of deliberation the judges of the Bookmarks Awards 2011 have announced the finalists, and BandwidthBlog is proud to have made the cut in the specialist publisher category along with Visi, Big Brother Amplified and Taste Magazine. Once again Naspers dominates the publisher mass appeal category with 24.com’s multiple sites and DStv.com taking five out of the seven nominees.
