Published by on Feb 25th, 2015, No Comments

Xperia-Z4-Tablet2Sony has been in the news quite a bit over the past couple of months. There is still a lot of talk surrounding whether or not Sany might actually sell their mobile business, but whatever the outcome there it’s clear that the company will still have several products in the pipeline. We will definitely see a few of those devices at Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona, and we may have gotten an early glimpse of one already… (more…)

Apple’s Oscars ad beautifully showcases the iPad Air 2

Apple Oscars Ad

Last night was the most glamorous, star-studded and over-the-top night in Hollywood. The annual Academy Awards were held last night and celebrated the best in all aspects of film.

Just like other big events in America – the Superbowl, Grammys et al – the Oscars offers prime advertisement slots to the highest bidder, and that being big American companies, including the biggest of them all, Apple.

Apple has a long history of debuting new ads at events such as the Oscars. back in 2010, the very first iPad ad made it’s debut at the star-studded affair and in 2007, months before the actual debut of the very first iPhone, Apple aired an ad for the phone that simply read “Hello.”

Thus it came as no surprise that this year Apple chose to showcase one of their newest devices with a special focus on movies and the film industry as a whole. (more…)

Published by on Nov 5th, 2014, No Comments

nexus-9-tablets02The new nexus models are here and every Android purist just can’t wait to get their hands on the new devices. Coupled with the fact that the Nexus devices are in high demand and that new products are rarely sold at a discount it came as a BIG surprise that HTC announced a 50% off sale on the new Nexus 9 yesterday (while stocks lasted). Yip, just one day after the Nexus 9 launched in the US. The company quickly sold through a limited quantity of 16GB Nexus 9 tablets for $199 — half off the regular $399 price you’d pay at Google Play or Best Buy. Seagate Wireless Plus Review: Pocketsize entertainment

Published by on Sep 4th, 2014, No Comments

Sea_004Storage comes in many shapes and forms these days. From ultra fast solid state hard drives to online cloud storage the average user today has a multitude of options when it comes to storing documents, family photos or videos of cats acting crazy. Do you remember the 3.5 inch “stiffies” or even their older brothers the “floppy” disks? Since the birth of computing, storage has been an integral part of the experience and even though the availability of disk space seems to double every few years we just can’t get enough.

Selling hard drives, externals or any type of storage media was almost a sure thing in the past. Nowadays manufacturers have to come up with bigger (storage space), faster and smaller (in dimension) products to keep up with their competitors. But what if you were to step out of this paradigm set? What if you can bring portable storage with a twist? The Seagate Wireless Plus does just that, it’s the little entertainment hub that fits in your pocket. (more…)

ASUS Transformer Book V: Laptop hybrid with docked Android phone

asus-transformer-book-v

If there is one company that has completely against the grain in recent years with their electronic gadgets, it’s ASUS. Recently they have released multiple Padfones – devices that are tablets with a dock in the back which houses a smartphone. These two worked together and separately as well, like smartphones and tablets would normally.

Now, they are taking the brave idea in a new direction. The company has taken a laptop, which can also be converted into a tablet, but also houses a smartphone. Wait, what? (more…)

Samsung sticks to same recipe for new ads

Galaxy Tab S

When it comes to advertising, Samsung seems to follow the mantra “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. The mega company has used the same template for all of the adverts in the last year or so. And that template is simple: trash Apple.

There’s no denying that the Samsung/Apple rivalry is one of the biggest in the modern age, and we’re sure that the competition between these two will go on for years to come. However, Samsung’s tactic of bashing the competition in literally almost every advert, is becoming, well, boring.

For their two new ads promoting the Galaxy S tablet, Samsung takes on Apple’s iPad yet again and are out to prove that the Galaxy S IS better than the iPad and we must now accept it once and for all.

The first ad centers around the iPad’s inability to multi-task. With the Galaxy S, however, it;s super easy to to multiple things at the same time on your tablet. Where as with the iPad, this functionality is absent.  (more…)

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet Review: Sony comes out swinging

Published by on Jul 1st, 2014, 2 Comments

Z2_Tablet__018The last year and a half has seen some stiff competition in the mobile market. Companies such as LG and Sony have been going toe to toe with their two big brothers, Samsung and Apple. Sony’s Z series, LG’s G series and even the HTC One series have steadily been gaining market share across every mobile product area. This type of environment puts pressure on the participating companies’ sales teams, but we as consumers are smiling all the way being spoilt for choice and price. Competition remains the fiercest in the smartphone market, but we are seeing the same fight spilling over into the tablet market. Sony has come out swinging with the new Xperia Z2 tablet, taking on the currently undefeated (my opinion) king of the tablet ring, the Apple iPad. Will the Z2 put up a decent fight? (more…)
