According to Endgadget, the device, powered by Android 4.1, offers the same design language as its recently launched Xperia smartphone counterpart and as a result also features a water resistant coating.
In addition, the tablet features a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (with microSD expansion), 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, 1,920 x 1,200 resolution display with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, 4G LTE support and Sony’s “S-Force” virtual surround sound technology.
Having packed all of these features and more into a 6.9mm thick body, Sony’s Xperia Z is now possibly the thinnest and lightest (weighing in at 495g) 10-inch tablet on the market.
The tablet will be available in black or white colour options.
Both pricing and an expected release date have yet to be confirmed.
