Located in Cape Town’s up and coming area Woodstock and in one of the most exciting creative spaces at the moment, 88mph Cape Town has over 500 square meters of working space and the home to some of the coolest and innovative local startups.
88mph, a top African start-up incubator, merged forces with Google Umbono and created a fantastic space for entrepreneurial investment and lab-type assistance in a move that was applauded from Cairo to Cape Town, celebrating its launch in October 2012.
88mph makes investments in early stage mobile/web companies targeting the African market with a focus purely on ideas with potential to scale across Africa. The environment – open plan, unique and collaborative – creates a competitive setting where startups spend three intensive months launching products and finding customers. The 88mph team then work together with startups to raise followup funding, when their products are ready to make revenue and scale to additional markets.
The programme also provides startups with international and local mentors from companies that include Google, MXit, Frost & Sullivan and HumanIPO.
The space is also available for meetings, working space or to host events and features: A conference room, customizable event space with beamer and presentation area, flat screen display for smaller parties and conferences, networking events and classes, Wifi and wired network accessibility.
