Mango airlines launches iOS app

Domestic airline Mango has today launched an iOS app on the App Store (FlyMango) and also plans to make it available across other mobile platforms over the coming months.
Mango passengers will now be able to book and pay for flights with the app as well as change flights and receive updated airline communication.
Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout says that the launch of the app falls in line with the airline’s strategy to make travel more accessible to South Africans and add mobile platforms to its already extensive distribution channel bouquet having launched a mobi-site with full booking functionality in October last year the usage of which has been dominated by iOS users.
“œThe response to the launch of our mobi-site last year indicated the growing need for mobile accessibility,“ says Bezuidenhout. “œWith the exceptionally high penetration of mobile technology in South Africa as well as increased in bandwidth and the proliferation of ancillary devices such as tablets, we anticipate access by a new market segment of approximately 4 million new customers.“

In 2012, Mango, in partnership with Vodacom launched in-flight Wi-Fi with G-Connect, a service that lets passengers access the internet from 30, 000 feet in the air.
