In a BGR exclusive, the site has obtained and published some new details about Amazon’s upcoming Kindle Fire tablets, expected to make their debut in the next few months, of which the company is supposedly planning a complete revamp.
Just in time for the feverish Christmas shopping period, Amazon is looking to bring three new tablets to consumers, sources reveal. The lineup includes a new 7-inch Kindle Fire featuring a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, a new version of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD with a 1,920 x 1,200 pixel resolution and an upgraded version of 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD increasing the current pixel count to 2,560 x 1,600.
As for the tablet designs, sources spill that there will be some changes here too with the replacement of the typical curved slopes at the back of the device with a more angular and sharp aesthetic. In addition, the devices will be lighter with the power and volume buttons being relocated to the back of he device to “avoid accidental button pressing”.
Amazon has declined to comment on the leaked tablet information which it considers to be speculative.
While Samsung surpassed Amazon in 2012 as No. 1 in global tablet shipment volume, could this new and improved lineup give Amazon the edge it needs to take the top spot for 2013?
