HTC to launch smartwatch in 2014, battery issues resolved

HTC still hasn‘t turned their fortunes around, but they are hoping this is the year that it will happen. Since 2014 is going to be the year of the smartwatch, it would be fitting if it is their product in the new segment that does it for them. Unfortunately, they are a bit late to the party and the segment is going to be flooded by the time they get a device to market.
Talking to Bloomberg about its offering, Chairman Cher Wang said that the company started looking at smart watches “many years ago,” and that it finally reckons it’s solved the battery issues that have plagued other wearables.
According to the chairman they have solved another “œconsumer-centric“ problem of smartwatches ““ the LCD lighting. Most of the screens used on these devices have been dismal in the past, so we are looking forward to seeing where they are going with it.
