Many people don‘t care about security and viruses hitting their beloved smartphone, because they reckon they can simply factory reset the device and all will be well. That is not always the case, though, and there are masses of malicious software out there that can find a home in your phone.
We think security on your phone is important, and to that end, here are our picks for the top free antivirus applications on Android.
5. Sophos Free Antivirus and Security
sophosSophos’ Free Antivirus and Security offers a full-feature set of tools for free, including everything from antivirus to loss protection. The whole device can be checked in a relatively quick scan, which is handy.
You also have anti-theft features, like remote-lock and phone finder.
4. Comodo
Protecting yourself from virus and unsafe apps, Comodo Security and Antivirus is an “˜always on‘ app that scans your phone or tablet and keeps bad software from harming your device. It does have a couple of interesting features, like Privacy Protection for storing sensitive information, Privacy Advisor for help identifying app permissions, SMS and Call Blocking, Traffic Monitoring, and Backup.
3. CM Security

It also has a privacy manager which shows you all your installed apps‘ privileges and a security audit.
1. 360 Security – Antivirus Boost
While this package might seem leaner than some of the others on this list, it does pack quite a punch. It doesn’t just offer virus protection, but also cleans and speed up your device to keep it running in tip-top shape.
