MasterCard thinks millennials want to buy stuff by taking selfies

Mobile payments have been at the forefront of the industry for the large banks and card companies for quite some time now. Everything from eWallets to QR code payments is being implemented, but MasterCard thinks there is another opportunity beckoning.
Instead of merely using your fingerprint to authorize a transaction like Apple Pay, MasterCard is going to let you take a selfie. Buy a drink with your MasterCard, and the app sends a notification to snap a picture of your face to confirm your identity.
MasterCard is hoping that the younger generation might find it quirky and interesting enough to actually try out. “The new generation, which is into selfies“¦ I think they‘ll find it cool,“ MasterCard’s Ajay Bhalla said in an interview. “œThey‘ll embrace it.“
They will add the additional security feature where people will have to blink for the payment to go through.
