With the Google event yesterday, we were treated to a few new products showing us the future Google had in mind for their devices. This event showcased the new devices as well as the new Nexus 5X and 6P, created by the Google device partners LG and Huawei. The event confirmed many of the rumours circling the internet in the upcoming weeks including one ““ The Pixel C.
The Pixel C is a beautifully designed tablet which has an attachable keyboard. With the ability to work as a tablet and keyboard duo or a tablet on its own, the Pixel C enters the transforming notebook market. The specs include a 10.2inch display with a resolution of 2560×1800 (308 pixel-per-inch screen), Nvidia’s Tegra X1 chipset with a quad-core CPU and Maxwell GPU, 3GB of RAM, USB type C connector with fast charging, front facing speakers, 4 microphones for better clarity with Google voice commands and running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The keyboard, which is sold separately to the Pixel C, connects via Bluetooth and has a handy charge method. The keyboard is attached to the tablet using a magnet allowing for the tablet to attach to the keyboard in many ways. The tablet can sit flush against the keyboard to hide the keyboard and can be attached in a variety of angles based on your need. The keyboard is charged wirelessly when the tablet and the keyboard sit flush against each other, when the keyboard and tablet touch. This means you don‘t have to charge 2 devices. The Bluetooth keyboard will also run up to 2 months with continuous use in the event you forget to charge it.
With the Pixel C priced at the premium market, it seems Google wanted to disrupt the tablet market. Starting at $499 for a 32GB model and $599 for the 64GB one, with the keyboard fetching an additional $149, the Pixel C is not just another cheap tablet and rightfully so. As we‘ve seen Apple‘s iPad Pro release and anticipating the next Microsoft Surface tablet poised for release in October, the Pixel C was surely created to throw a spanner in these Giants plans. A beautiful tablet that incorporates the newest android OS will no doubt have you questioning your purchase. It‘s not as simple as deciding to purchase an iPad or Surface tablet anymore.
