Microsoft have released the first major update to Windows 10, officially codenamed “Threshold 2”, which brings minor performance and graphical improvements.
Today, Microsoft began rolling out the first major update to Windows 10 – officially codenamed “Threshold 2” – following the launch of the Xbox One’s new dashboard.
The update, Build 10586, will be available to users as a cumulative update via Update. The update will also be available to as of today to Win 7 and 8.1 users who have not yet upgraded to the latest version of the operating system.
The update includes updates to Cortana, Microsoft Edge and other Win 10 interface elements.
The new update, however, does not include support for extensions to Microsoft’s Edge browser, which so far is a much wanted feature amongst hard-core Edge users.
In a statement made today, Terrry Myerson, Vice President of Microsoft’s Devices Group, stated that Microsoft “can recommend organizations of all sizes start their Win 10 deployments”. The update forms part of Microsoft’s 1 billion Win 10 devices plan.
Presently, Microsoft have reached 120 million Windows 10 PCs, and are on track to meet their goal.
