Firefox browser launches on the iOS App Store

Following the proliferation of Firefox OS this year, Mozilla has now moved to release its popular Firefox browser on the iOS App Store for free.
The browser, which is based on Apple’s WebKit, now runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod, and features a unique design, Intelligent Search, Accounts, Visual Tabs,  and Private Browsing.
Intelligent Search enables the browser to give suggested search results and a list of search options on platforms including Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Twitter, Amazon, and WordPress. Visual Tabs renders a card-based grid of intuitive visual and numbered tabs.

Firefox availability

Firefox for iOS is only available for devices running iOS 8.2 and higher.
Initially, Mozilla was opposed to releasing the browser on iOS due to Apple’s policy that restricts third-party browsers to using its WebKit framework and the JavaScript engine.
The company officially made the decision to announce the release of an iOS port of the browser last year in December. Interestingly, the app is written in Swift 2.0, Apple’s new programming language.
