In what was a great surprise, the Withings Activité Pop was a great fitness trackers and good looking watch at the same time. Is didn‘t have the greatest drawback of other smartwatches and activity trackers, it isn‘t the battery guzzler that Android Wear, Tizen or Microsoft based fitness trackers are. Its 8 month battery life is among its greatest positives (read the full review here), but it also appealed to a different market than other smart wearables.
It launched alongside the Withings Activité, which has a similar design but a more premium build, which cost a whopping $449. Now the company wants to bring a more premium build to the Withings Activité Pop (which cost $150), which leads us to the newly announced Withings Activité Steel.
The Steel variant looks very much like the expensive version, but its price is much more akin to that of the cheaper Pop. It costs only $170 and while it isn’t quite as luxurious as the Activité (it has silicon straps instead of leather), but it’s certainly a lot classier than the Pop thanks to its stainless steel housing and chrome hands.
The design of the dials is slightly different, at least in its different colours. The functionality is pretty much the same as the other two variants. You pair it with the Withings Health Mate app, which helps you track your steps as well as your sleep patterns. As mentioned in the Withings Activité Pop Review, my favourite feature is the automatic swim tracking.
We hope to get our hands on this version to review sooner rather than later. What do you think about this design? Let us know in the comments below.
