Uber rumoured to be valued at more than $62.5 billion USD

It can now officially be said that Uber is valued more than the economies of 60% of the nations on Earth.
A new report, which highlights the World Banks data on gross domestic product (GDP) worldwide, has revealed that Uber’s valuation is higher than the economic output of more than 120 of 194 countries in the world.
The report further reveals that the company’s value has risen by more than 2 billion USD, increasing its value to over more than $62.5 billion.
In context, were Uber a country with a domestic output, its economy would rank at 74 worldwide – above the likes of Kenya, Luxembourg, Ethiopia, and Uruguay.
Founded in 2009, the company’s most recent valuation – nearly one year ago – posited that the company was valued between $35-$40 billion USD.
The company’s rumoured valuation is unconfirmed, however, and may end up exceeding a total of $63 billion USD.
Comparatively, Apple is valued at more than $642 billion – meaning that the firm is more valuable than 173 of the world’s 194 nations.
The news forms the latest part of Uber’s upward trend, which has seen the company expand profitably in South Africa and introduce new services overseas, such as the ability to request a flu shot on demand.
