Rumours: next iPhone could be an iPhone Mini

Apple’s next smartphone, which has been dubbed an iPhone 6c, could be released as an iPhone Mini instead in early 2016.

While we’ve previously covered the rumours surrounding Apple’s seemingly-imminent iPhone 6c, new speculation posits that the company could instead be producing a new addition to the iPhone line in the form of an iPhone Mini.
The original iPhone 5c was expected to bear the ‘Mini’ name in line with Apple’s smaller iPad line, but instead adopted the ‘c’ marque in a nod to the device’s multiple colours.
While Apple traditionally announces its new iPhones at its annual September event, the company, according to speculation, will release the potential iPhone Mini in March next year to tie in with the release of the second Apple Watch.
It is presently unknown as to whether Apple will continue to use a polycarbonate shell for cheaper iPhone models as the iPhone 5c employed, or would use aluminum. Additionally, the iPhone Mini is rumoured to arrive without a home button at all, as older design concepts indicate.
The iPhone Mini is further rumored to arrive with a Sapphire display, which is expected to be more resilient that Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
