Apple hits one billion active devices

Apple devices (one billion) account for more than a seventh of the world’s population now.

Yesterday Apple announced their biggest quarterly earnings, and that of any company ever! Alongside the announcement CEO Tim Cook revealed that there are now over one billion active Apple devices in the world. That is a crazy statistic.
What’s more is that the number is only based on the devices that have connected to the App Store or iCloud over the past three months, which leaves the potability of many more users. To put this in perspective, Apple devices account for more than a seventh of the world’s population now.

Tim Cook stated – “The growth of our services business accelerated during the quarter to produce record results, and our installed base recently crossed a major milestone of one billion active devices.”
The devices include iPhones, iPads, Macs and the iPod Touch models as well as newer products like the Apple Watch and Apple TV. The latter two allowed the Cupertino company to get over the 1 billion line. Amidst all the celebrations there was one concerning fact though. Their quarterly earnings report reflected that iPhone sales have slowed year-on-year – their primary revenue driver.
We will have to wait and see if the upcoming iPhone 7 can rectify the decline, for now though Apple will celebrate their significant milestone.
