Following Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s messages, social media giants Facebook and Twitter support Apple against pervasive FBI requests.
Both Facebook and Twitter support Apple against pervasive FBI requests for the company to build crackable iPhones in future, following on from Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s messages of support yesterday.
Apple is set to head into a legal battle with the FBI which could go directly to the US Supreme Court. Earlier this week, Tim Cook divulged directly to consumers that Apple was facing the possibility of having to build insecure iPhones in future to allow government access.

The FBI’s requests, which come as a result of the desire to prevent terror attacts before they happen, would require Apple to build iPhones that would be directly susceptible to brute force attacks.
In a statement yesterday, Facebook elaborated that “We condemn terrorism and have total solidarity with victims of terror. Those who seek to praise, promote, or plan terrorist acts have no place on our services… However, we will continue to fight aggressively against requirements for companies to weaken the security of their systems. These demands would create a chilling precedent and obstruct companies‘ efforts to secure their products.”
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey lent his support through his own medium, tweeting: “œWe stand with @timcook and Apple (and thank him for his leadership)!“

Previously, Google CEO Sundar Pichai warned that the FBI’s requests could lead to a “troubling precedent”.

The debate has found itself all the way to a discussion between US Presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hilary Clinton, who both refused to take sides but expressed their desire to find a middle ground in the conflict.
“I am very fearful in America about “˜big brother‘ and that means not only the federal government getting into your emails or knowing what books you‘re taking out of the library … I worry about that very much. On the other hand, what I also worry about is the possibility of another terrorist attack against our country … Clearly all of us would be very dismayed if we learned that we could‘ve picked up information about a potential terrorist attack and we didn‘t do that“ Sanders commented.
